22 Things I learned in 22 Years
Although it feels as if 21 took a year off my life and I'm actually not turning 22 and really just turning 21 all over again, the reality is set to hit and the "adulting" begins... I think? Or maybe I'm just the only crazy to think I should have it all together at 22??? Ha... *hyperventilates*
20 is irrelevant, 21 is a party, but for some reason 22 makes you question everything. There were times that I was living my best life and other times that I wanted to be swallowed by the Earth but momma I made it!
In honor of this big day, here are 22 things I've learned (and honestly still am trying to apply) in my whole 22 years:
1. Let go and let God
The best and most significant lesson I have learned. Some things are beyond my control and realizing that it is best to let go and trust his plan is the best thing that can be done.
2. Be present
I'm 100% guilty of being caught up on my phone too often but realizing how happy you truly are in some moment of your every day is AWESOME.
3. It's best that some things don't work
As much as you might think you want it, there's a reason it didn't work.
4. Get out of your comfort zone
Although we tend to seek comfort, trying something new that you're not used to feels so refreshing.
5. Meet new people
There are so many interesting people in this world that have so much to offer, get to know them!
6. Be nice to everyone
No matter who, no matter what. You never know what they have been through or who they will be in the future.
7. Rejection can be a good thing
As much as it might suck, you have to admit it pushes you a little harder. Maybe some thing better is coming or maybe it just wasn't for you.
8. Let fear motivate you
Don't let fear hold you back. Embracing it allows you to grow, learn, and figure out what works and what doesn't.
9. Don't rush
Things take time and not everything can happen when you want it to happen.
10. Treat yourself
If you can afford it, buy it. If you want to eat it, eat it. YOLO baby.
11. Get over FOMO and stay in bed
(I'm still working on this) Stop forcing yourself to go out with all your friends because you hate missing out. You haven't slept in weeks and have work in the morning? Stay home. Please Sara, c'mon.
12. Change is good
Experiencing new things and trying different routines is healthy. When you are open to change, you are opening yourself up to more opportunities.
13. Travel as much as you can
Nothing makes me happier than going to new places (or the same place) for a little getaway. Spend all your money and just go, seriously.
14. It takes time to really know someone
As much as you may think you know someone, sometimes it takes time to learn who they really are. Not everyone has the same good intentions.
15. Be weird and unapologetic
Some people might think your weird and crazy but WHO CARES as long as you're happy and know what you want. You know yourself better than anyone and if someone doesn't like you then see ya sucker.
16. Go after what you want
Put yourself out there and give things a shot, something good might come out of it. Keep trying until you're where you want to be #ShootYourShot
17. It's ok to be completely confused at life
TBH, most people are and there is no need to freak out about it.
18. Some things just don't have an answer
It is what it is. Don't dwell on finding answers because sometimes no answer is the exact answer you need.
19. Care for others
Be there when people need you and every time in between.
20. Be vulnerable
Vulnerability has never been my strong suit but it's in the works. (Part of this post is my attempt at this) Be open, be honest, and let the rest follow.
21. Eat before you go out drinking, please.
I still need to take my own advice on this. Rough nights and rougher mornings.
22. Balance life
Enjoy life as much as you can. But remember, not every thing is fun and games. There are times to be serious and times that really just suck but you live and you learn.
Here's to another PHENOMENAL year of LIVING, STRIVING, AND THRIVING!!!! ✨
Cheers angels xoxo
