NYC Highlights and Good Bites

The city of dreams, the faint smell of urine, and overpopulation! Ahhh, you guessed it. In the words of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, let’s hear it for New York!

2017 has been a good year for traveling and nothing better than having your friends by your side while you’re exploring the world. Who else would be by your side encouraging bad decisions for an ultimately good story and convincing you that the last sip of your 10th mimosa is EXACTLY what you need?? I gave my BFF Brooke no other option but to come and simply enough she was on board! Talk about channeling our inner Gossip Girl, B and S take on New York! Well... maybe not entirely like gossip girl considering our college student budget but a girl can dream, right?

We spent 5 days in New York with the privilege of having a place to stay without paying an arm and a leg for a night at a hotel. HUGE shout out to Michelle and Jason for managing to put up with us for those days and the being hostess with the mostess showing us all the best spots.

There is so much to see and do in New York that it’s impossible to get it all done. Our list was endless, our time was limited, and our stamina was definitely NOT prepared. Of course, all that cardio was all lost by the thousands of calories we managed to consume in just those few days but let’s just pretend calories don’t count on vacation.

As much as I would like to share every small detail of every second I was breathing New York air like I feel like I did on my snapchat, I think we both prefer lists. Who doesn’t love a good list of fun pictures and a minimal amount of words? We can barely handle the new 280-character tweet limit, so let's just keep it simple. I proudly present to you....

Sara's NYC Highlights and Good Bites

The cutest happy hour spot filled with awesome people and the sweet fresh smell of crepes. My overpriced small glass of wine was kind of made up by the amazing view of the Manhattan skyline.

This former rail trail that went out of use in 1980 was turned into one of the most popular parks in New York, filled with different gardens, art, and seasonal food vendors. It was SO nice, we walked it twice (completely by accident because we went the wrong way but that’s besides the point).

Bottoms up for bottomless mimosas, bellinis, and sangria! Not usually used to being limited to a 90 minute brunch, but let’s just be thankful that we were. Their menu options made me wish I had a black hole for a stomach because everything looked beyond delicious but their portions were massive!

(Sorry for the lack of brunch pics but if you're a big bruncher like myself... you understand! Here's their Instagram so you can drool over)

This outdoor food market is every foodies DREAM! There are about 100 food vendors selling different types of snacks and the view makes it 10 times better. Can I transport myself there every single weekend? Can my wedding reception be here? I'm obsessed!

When Michelle told us to try the “fish ice cream” I nearly died, but when I actually tried it, I quickly resurrected and was taken to waffle heaven. It’s NOT actual fish ice cream but a waffle SHAPED like a fish. Suddenly I'm a pescatarian because that's the only thing I want to eat for the rest of my life. Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside with your choice of soft serve ice cream, toppings, and syrup!? Heavenly.

Give me a vowel because O my god!!! Has New York shifted from the big apple to the home of the best waffles ever created? These Hong-Kong style egg waffles filled with ice cream and different toppings will satisfy any sweet tooth. I wish that whoever invented this could invent everything else in this life. These are the definition of WOW.

After years of sharing those Facebook videos of this famous edible cookie dough shop, I FINALLY TRIED IT FOR MYSELF! If you know me you know how serious my sweet tooth is. I thought so too until I tried one of their dough-licious scoops (please at least pretend to laugh) and not even I could finish it!? Trust me, I’m not complaining about how sweet it was but just giving you a heads up. A MUST go!

(P.S I linked each underlined spot in the list to their website if you guys want more information)

NYC was one for the books! Clearly it's time to hit the gym after all that food but no regrets, #yolo!!! I can't wait to go back for more... ya never know where my PR career will maybe take me ;)

Would love to hear about your NYC experience and what places I missed to keep on building my list!

For now... here's my video recap which Youtube hopefully won't remove.
